What does Shammah Mean?
Shammah is a Hebrew name for God.  It means “The Lord is Present. “  We want to help students understand that God is Present in their lives.  He is there when things are good, and he is there when things are not.   When life gets hard, it doesn’t mean God has left.  He is with us through the pain and the tears, and he will be with us when things get better.  He is Shammah.

Who is this Ministry For?
Hurting Students ages 5th-12th grade

Why does this Ministry Exist?
Pre-teen and Teen years are hard.  Even with all of the online social networks, texting, and cell phones, students can  feel very alone.  At Southeast we want them to know they aren’t alone.  We want them to know when life gets painful the church will be there for them.  We provide trusted adults who will listen to them, pray with them, and provide some recourses to help.  We can’t make the storm in their life go away, but we can walk beside them, and more importantly help them understand their God walks beside them.

What does this Ministry Provide?
Shammah House provides a safe environment for students to talk to a trusted adult and pray with them.  If the student has a need for some counseling Shammah House provides counseling groups, free of charge, led by a counseling intern.  Shammmah House can also connect students with one on one counseling if that is needed.
